Our readers' thoughts on EV FUD

and when will it end.

Your thoughts on EV FUD

In our previous newsletter, I asked about your opinion on EV FUD in the media. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it’s short for “Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt”, and in our case describes the intentional spread of (often-wrong) anti-EV stances spread in the media. Here are your answers:

“Winner”: 52 of you think it’ll be three to five years until we see almost no EV FUD in the media anymore, and 51 say it’ll be even more. Well, that’d be sad, but likely real as well.
We had 27 of you saying it’ll happen in two to three years — this is what I’d hope too, depends if the funding from oil & gas industry stops or not, eh?
4 of you are very optmistic and hope it’ll be next year.
To those saying never… I hope you are incorrect.

“It's been my experience that for a brand to really "take hold" it needs to be mainstream for at least three years. I know EV's have been around longer than that already, but having recently bought a new car, and comparing all the current EV's, no car rose to the top of the list. Maybe the Tesla, but I'm not giving that madman any of my money. Unfortunate. ”

“The Petroleum and ICE vehicle industries will dig in their heels as long as they can. The closer we get to the 2030 -35 drop dead dates, they'll be fighting even harder to survive, doing all they can to frighten governments and the public away from switching to electric.”

— S, selected 2030…

“I am discouraged by the result of the election, we will have a president who will try to turn back the progress we had so far.”

“Not till after the Trump administration leaves office and a year of picking up the pieces has gone by.”

“EVs are going to be "big tech" and will have the same hate.”
